Alexander James Rodriguez synth-pop era has arrived with the release of his upcoming single, ‘Ride Or Die’, on January 24th. Now in his fourth-year writing and recording music, the award-winning 16-year-old British native, co-produced the single which leads his debut album “Call Me Alexander” out on February 29th.
Driven forward by 1980s inspired new wave with multiple synthesizers and live saxophone solo, ‘Ride Or Die’ is centered around a free-spirited young woman who charms and ensnares everyone within her path with her hypnotic beauty, and magnetic confidence and charm, but when cards are stacked, she will always be his “ride or die”.
“When we first started to think about the beat for this song, it was always with a live wailing saxophone and a bundle of 80’s synths,” explained Alexander. “We chose the classic LinnDrum drum machine and blended it with a modern distorted synth-bass and several arpeggiators which gave us the main ingredients for ‘Ride Or Die’. With these core musical elements, we began crafting the backstory, which instantly felt like a girl admiration and empowerment song.”
Alexander delivers yet another quality energetic pop record. ‘Ride Or Die’ has an incredibly addictive 80’s inspired synth melody and pre-chorus, which sets up the catchy chorus that instantly hooks you in and singing along. The wailing saxophone, which the teen collaborated with Jimmy Reid (NBC: The Voice) is a subtle spur for fans of the iconic “In Your Eyes” by The Weeknd, to give it a listen.
Synths and sax aside, the ultimate cherry on top is Alexander’s unwavering range of vocals that truly get to shine as he effortlessly stacks falsetto harmonies and backing vocals from pre-chorus to chorus.
